Meet Moor Global, a Black-Owned Florida Travel Company Focused on Building Connections with the African Diaspora

Founded in 2019 by Jason Broadnax, an ‘army kid’ from Delray Beach, Florida, Moor Global is a black-owned Florida travel agency that combines travel, real estate and African descendants from around the world . “Moor Global was created for Africans across the Diaspora to come together and rediscover all the knowledge and wealth we had when the Moors ruled the world.

Broadnax explained that he chose to name the company Moor Global to pay tribute to the Moors who ruled the Iberian Peninsula for 800 years, black Muslims from Africa who contributed to this region of southern Europe with the technology, art and culture.

“You have to start at the beginning with the Moors. The Moors, who came from Africa, reigned over Spain and Portugal for over 800 years. They introduce many new advances in Europe in the fields of health, hygiene, cooking and new culture. The Moors also brought Europeans a wealth of new knowledge in the fields of mathematics, geography, agriculture and philosophy. They introduced paper and the system of Arabic numerals to Europe. It was through the African peoples – the Moors – that knowledge of China, India, Arabia and the Americas reached Europe,” he said.

Broadnax recalls being inspired to open his business after meeting black people from South America, the Caribbean and Africa while earning a business degree at North Carolina A&T.

“I met all these people who look like me from all over the world. They told me about their cultures, their families and the houses they had in their country of origin. This raised my curiosity and in a way started the creation of Moor Global.

He said his motivation was to make this black-owned Florida travel company a source to help build black wealth through African diaspora destinations and real estate around the world. To date, Moor Global has expanded to 8 countries such as Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Egypt.

“The Moor Global journey begins with a lush vacation to experience this region and the people. Followed by the acquisition of real estate for holiday residence, retirement home or rental property. Moor Global does this by working with companies like I travel, First Gold Star and many more to make international travel and real estate accessible to all Africans in the Diaspora,” he explained.

By making international travel and real estate accessible to all black people, Broadnax emphasizes that Moor Global helps provide economic opportunity to black communities around the world, which will allow it to retain wealth within these communities around the world while by exposing black people in the United States to new cultures, heritages and knowledge.

“Moor Global isn’t your everyday travel trap. It’s an opportunity to build generational wealth. We’re currently working on coffee tours, so stay tuned for that.”
