The first phase of the online travel agency program comes to an end | North West Real Estate News


OBI has completed the first phase of a ‘historic’ development for an international online travel agency in Manchester.

The property consultancy is looking to compete with the division’s new global headquarters in Manchester Goods Yard, which will become’s second global hub outside Amsterdam and represents an investment of £100m.

When completed, a team of 1,000 people will move into the base.

OBI has been appointed to provide workplace consulting, interior design, project management, contract administration and cost consulting services for the fit-up, which covers approximately 175,000 square feet of space spread over five floors.

Design features include connected meeting spaces, team rooms, breakout spaces, and catering facilities.

Smart office monitoring systems have also been incorporated into the project to help the company understand how many people are in each space, allowing smart technology to monitor and adjust environments based on the social environment of the desk.

Manchester Goods Yard is part of Enterprise City, with a building inspired by industrial warehouses in Brooklyn and New York.

OBI’s Joe Weilding said: “We have been working with for over four years on this project and to finally see it all come to fruition as planned is very rewarding. The whole team has worked closely together to ensure that we stay on budget while providing a truly world-class workspace and program.

“The project has been challenging with many moving parts, but delivering the first phase of the project as planned is fantastic.”
